Demolish The 'Killing Machine' !

No one can think, that a busy place,could turn into a devastating one within a few hours! No, I am not saying of any kinds of natural calamity or disaster,which could be of severely devastating! So many innocent people, who were killed , before they could get escape anyhow from such unexpected attack ! Yes, ‘the killing machine’ Ajmal Kasab, with few other co-terrorists, conducted such inhumane killing operations,in Mumbai, on 26/11/08. Nobody can wipe out thisevent of horrible carnage from its mind still now ! A file picture can depict, that Kasab was enjoying such ‘clymax’of remorseful carnage one after one, during the ongoing operation, as carried out by him with his co-terrorists companion.! It is unbelieveable ! Can a ‘flesh and blood’reflect such devilish gestures of enjoying on human’s blood-shed or ruthless death, as executed by itself ? Yes Kasab could do so -beyond anyone’s perception or anticipation !
Now he has been awarded ‘death sentence’, by the court. I think of its very futility,as compared to what greater damage ,that had been brought by him, in terms of the numbers of death as well as huge loss of property !
“”We, the Indian citizens all, must not waste any more time, for such execution of death penalty,as awarded by the honourable court” ! In this connection,we must not entertain or regard further supporting or favouring from anyone (except the supreme court) Kasab anyway,that might alter this ‘death penalty’ ! We must not bear anykinds of ‘compassion’ or soft-sentiment in our mind at all !
Very clearly to say, we, the major Indians today, do want to sea “Kasab’, to be dead as early as possible as a paradigmatic step towards crime conducted!

Maoists leader ‘Kishenji’, has initiated a challenge like proposal, towards stopping anykinds operations conducted , by the ‘joint troops’.Isn’t it rediculas? Nor daring? How can a leader of terrorists group, propose such imprudently? It is a response in reaction to the home minister’s proposal to the maoists, for abstaining from any types of violence, at least for thre consecutive days only,as to generate an environment of starting talks with them. On behalf of a government democratically elected, Mr,Chidambaram has done enough in proposing what to the maoists. On the contrary, a leader of a terrorists’ group like ‘maoists’, daringly has thrown a challenge to the Indian government! It looks like a vex or despise to our democracy indeed. We can not either entertain or tolerate such ‘arrogance’.
It is expected that, Indian government must handle this ‘challenging proposal’,in strict hand without any doubt or hesitation. In an environment of ‘democracy’,someone can demand anything possible,irrespective of any violence or devastating involvements in this regard. Kishenji’s proposal reflects an ‘indirect threat’ to the nation’s democracy as well as country’s sovereignity well.

A strong emphasis as well as an extensively disrupted ‘hue and cry’ for preserving the environment of this living planet, that has been generated from the western countries, who were indeed, industrially developed well from very earlier days,when the major countries in the world,were at the back seat of that journey. The industrially developed countries all then followed ,’ go as you like’ policy in operating their business in an open field of industry.With a view to, making more and more money.such big players did run their industries all in haphazardly without paying the required attention towards preserving the environment at all. Even, they did set up many industries in different countries without caring or considering the important factors,that could impact the environment surrounding areas at all. Thus, year after year, huge profits have been earned by those industrially developed countries, by contaminating the world in all respects extensively, like air,water,soil etc, even jeopardizing the human’s life also. The very clever and shy industrially developed countries all, when found that, their accumulated accounts for contaminating the earth,had already been crossed the danger lavel. Soon , they began to shout for protecting the living planet from further contamination .Because,their fired bullets, have been about to piercingtheir nations..

They began to gossip profusely embedded in the reel of scientific examples or approaches, on environment protection that is acutely needed for saving our planet, by proposing various rules and regulations, those are to be implented in constraint manner. Now,they are ready to run their business by compelling other developing&under-developed countries to be with them in such mission,through transferring necessary knowledge & technologies, with a view to making a cleaner world.They all know very well, that the developing& under-developed countries would never be able to manage sufficient funds for such implementation of their suggested technologies.They even also, are prepared to lend necessary money in this regard of implementation, to the incapable countries.

We,as being Indian, do not disregard such ‘mission’ for protecting the environment of this living planet. But, at the sametime,we must consider our existing situation and own problems above all. Taking with 1.2 billions of populations of our country,where a vast number of unemployed youngsters,who are crowding the employment exchange offices, in increasing order day after day. We can neither stop any uneco-friendly industry at all, nor can undertake any suggested measures for rectifying those defectives in total immediately, rather than constituting a new industry for creating extra employment opportunities.We must invest ‘our limited funds’ in making new industries properly, as to mitigate a lnunber of unemployed youth,although it might be little!

Yes, more projects for forestation , that should be undertaken vigorously as fer as possible without any hesitation or delay. Beside this,we must consider and support as well,to those who can’t live withput wood. We should have special care for them,as to relieve their anxiety and threat for loosing guarantee of their life. Considering these important aspects all,we must then undertake the possible steps towards the preservation for surruounding environment of us. We must not treat the ‘mission’ for environment as futile, that would have been been undertaken accordedly worldwide.

The giant industrialists of the US, are manipulating the adminstration of the country in the angle of their higher contribution to the nation's economy.The government remains silent looking at those entreprenures. The US government digest easily, such 'Blackmailing Factor' of economic contribution to the country. The 'hue and cry' that raised by The US profusely,is now open to all. Considering the greater interests of big industrialists of its own country,the American government has been playing a discriminatory role before the world. America has been shouting much of other nation’s ‘carbon emission rather than looking at its own. The index of cutting 'carbon emission' of the US, respect to the year 1990,was stipulated at 40%.But the present government has intended to cut the same by 17% respect to the year 2005.Here,the present government has been engaged in violating the agreement as it were made earlier.Thus the US,wants to overlook its own responsibility in this crucial matter of cutting ‘carbon emission as stipulated earlier.At the same time the US also pointing out another country’s fault. It is an undsireable dealing of the US.A big pioneer country in the road of preserving the global environment,exhibiting its own irresponsibility to the world.Not only that,the US,has continuously putting pressure on other developing and under-developed countries to cut down their carbon emission beyond the lavel of what it should be.It is indeed, an illogical approach in the name of preserving the global environment, whence the US,itself has intended to cut its qwn ‘carbon emission’by 17% instead of 40%. As earlier,the US,affirmed to cut its carbon emission by 40% respect to the base year 1990.Now the US has been emphasizing more upon cutting down of domestic carbon emission of many countries.

In this context,the US,has been putting pressure indirecttly upon the countries like,India, Pakistan,Bangladesh and all other African countries.Because, these countries have no such updated infrastructure,as they all could consume adequate electricity to suit their domestic needs as to control ‘carbon emssion’. On the other hand, the US and other developed countries,ares capable to provide sufficient electricity to its citizens all. In this regard,the US, should judge considerably well all about the situation prevailing on.
In fact, one matter should be taken to our consideration,that all developed countries have contaminated the global environment at random earlier through the process of industrial development. Because their industrial progress has take place earlier than the present developing countries in the world. We the Indians, have been suffering from a disease like ‘seperatism’ severely.Such quckly spreadable desease dominating as well as jeopardising the Indian democracy.Indian politics is both’missionless’ and ‘visionless’ as well. Today, we prefer to remain as being separatedone rather than be unted. We have forgot the lesson “unity is the strength”. We have become more desierous of ‘ independent existence’following this grimous trend of ‘separatism’. It is studied well, that whenever development is not taking place in any larger portion or part of the state,due to political unrest or imbalance distribution of miscellaneous facilities,then others,opponent political parties find the way of separating the said state as the solution.Such depraved and opportunistic leaders raise hue and cry and continue violently,inhumanly or by creating sentiments of provocative nature as the turmoils ges survived..A relentless protest in favour of such division or separation of the state by pledging and highlighting the golden future of the divided part goes on everywhere throughout the state.The devout leaders impulse and motivate the public towards an uncertain future that the apparent crave public can’t understand its impact. The reckless leaders all, highlight on that, how they have been deprived of their procurable facilitiesthat are avoidable from the respective state administration .It is not wrong at all, to demand the procurable facilities for the deprived section of the society from the government of the state. With a view to solve the long awaited unsolved.problem of any part of the state, raising a demand for separate state,can’t bring any significant betterment in future. It can not be the only solution.It would be wise to find an innovative way to solve the problem rather than demanding for separate existence by making a separate state.to meet the demand..
Finding possible solution for the existing problem which is long lasitng, leaders of opponent should urge for such implementation before the present government as well as to the centre. Demand for balance facilities all that should be procurable to everyone, does not necessarily mean to divide the state at all.Have there any guarantee that such division of state, could provide the same or better facilities as they aspire for. If, someone claims so, then, an opportunistic intention or attitudes of the protesting leaders could be found out latter on. For the instance,the case of ‘Jharkhand,could be stated. Also,how far the development has been taken place in ‘Uttarakhand’ and ‘Chattrishgarh’, could be a matter of discussion for its verification. No, any development, could come through such division. Application of such ‘divisive principle’ with a view to achieving better future for any section or part of the state, would definitely inflict the Indian democracy and integrity. It must be a dangerous approach, in keeping our sovereignity intact. . Continuation of such application to devide any state according to certain section’s need or demand, would humiliate not only ‘Indian Democracy’ but also give the birth to ‘fragile sovereignity’and ultimately,would imperil our ‘independence’, that we have acquired through a great revolution, in future.
In this context,centre should adhere to such sectional problem ,emphasizing on required development as far as possible, which pertaining to the state,and even in the case of different politics sustained in respective state. It is a joint responsibility of centre and the affected state,as to mitigate such problem arisen,with a view to resist the fatalism of division of the state further.

In our faster lifestyle,where ‘a hard nut to crack’ competition has significantly been dominating our life. Not only, we have been facing severe troubles a lot, from such insurmountable competition prevailing on the society,but also losing the ground as well as the guarantee for our existenceas well. In such cloudy sky of any profession or business,where a trival scope has rarely been glittering that could be hopeful in such darkness ! Mass media, could act as ‘lamp lighter’ to the needy society people,as to support that how to go ahead in proper direction. Mass meda all,are-the ‘vigilant’ of the society, can impulse the society people by disseminating the different types of messages or contents in diverse manner to its’ numerous audience, as to motivate them according to the situation arisen prevailing the society.
But,it is oftenly seen that the mass media, have widely been engaged in presenting the caterable contents to its users according to the sponsor’s desire or whim irrespective to its(contents) standard or conformity to the major common people’s standard of living. It was the very day (26.11.08.),whence a daring srike on Mumbai as conducted by the terrorists, that humiliated the sovereignity of India. The terrorists, could attack such fiercely and atrociously as well the innocent people,was unimaginable to us. Such ‘never desireable’happening came to Indian citizen as ‘bolt from the blue’. Such devilish conduct of the terrorists,has left a void for reminiscence to every Indian’s mind and heart which is unwipeable indeed still now.

About sixty eight hours die-hard fighting between the terrorists and the security forces assisted by special commando,had generated a lot of anxiety and tension within the nation whole.Terrorists killed about 170 people who were innocent.Many fighters among spg group and security personnels were died in counter attack.Many’s tears-many’s agony-that remained still irrecoverable.We,the rest Indians have had nothing but trivial consolation to them.The government has tried to compensate as its best which can not be conforming to the value of one’s life.
Today,it is the day-to pledge and promise-that we must protect our country from being jeoperdised in such manner by the terrorists in future. We must never be irresponsible and inaccountable in the question of national security and sovereignity.We must have no contrast regarding race,communalism and regionalism while combation with terrorism.We must remain accorded in all respect, to the question of resisting the devilish terroists. A player from the state like Maharastra,Sachin has been dominating the crocket world and acquiring the internation honour and prestige for his ‘Motherland India’. Sachin Has enhanced the Indian prestige and glory as well. International prize and honour what comes to a player,is received , on behalf of the country for which the player represents for.Here,the question of which state,the player belongs to-is an absurd ! Such question has been appearing for an internationally glorious player like Sachin,even who has been commanding an apex position in the cricket world. Which country has been honoured taking with Sachun? The answere could never be Maharastra ! Itwould be India. Every children is lovable and favourite as well to us. Either poor or rich, every children may avail the basic opportunities, that our civic society should render as well as make the necessary provison for their progress in life at least.We should never count only for those,who have been privileged already. We should turn our eyes to the distressed children prevailing our society. We are to take the possible steps for those helpless and avoided innocents. Every children has its own instinctive quality to execute something in the world. So, we should never look down upon those poor,helpless and suppressed children as they might not be able to perform any good for our society at all.Under-estimating these unprivileged children , would be of our great blunder indeed.
It is seen,that those distressed children have been engaged in working at different business concerns either big or small. Their tiredless efforts have intrinsically been compensated by trivial packages. Opportuistically,those children are being oppressed finding innocence and miserable condition within them. These children, are not paid respect to their service rendered. They have been evaded and cheted by the unscrupulous entrepreneurs who are criminal like acting in the society. The should be paid rightly,conforming to their service rendered at least.
We need to be more aware of such blackmailing with the helpless children.We must look after as well as take necessary steps , where such misjudgement going on them.It we are not able to mitigate those distressed children’s demand and needs,then we can take such responsibility of protecting and directing them. Otherwise it would be vexing to our advanced world.
Government of any state or country should have minimum programmes for the betterment of the children as a whole.Education, healthcare, provision for food&shelter etc, are th urgent matters to the children particularly to the aforesaid poor and distressed children.It is the part of the development for any nation in the world. We should remain too much aware of such important issue of our life. Without any good care for the children, can not bring any development for the nation.

India is our motherland. It is like our mother. We, can assume all other states belong to it, as closely related like brothers and sisters and should treat so always and every moment. .We, every citizen of India,has the equal right to speak or write officially as to persue its own purpose and need, in any conceded Indian language as approved by the government of India, Although being a foreign language,we can use English of its international recognition as well as for better convenience.Irrespective of mentioning specifically, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali ,Marathi etc,all are respectable languges of India.None to indignify at all ! It is customary, that respective state or provincial language is preferred as well, respect to any state work. It does never mean, that any compulsion or obligation has been left for someone, residing in any state who does not know or does not want to use the language of respective state as being the Indian citizen belonging to other state or province. In India, Any person,has the right to work professionally any where in India irrespective to any state without raising any question.about it. Because, India is the ‘homeland’to every Indian citizen.

So,we should neither look down upon nor underestimate any Indian citizen belonging to any different state or province.Any Indian citizen may move independently whatever he/she intends for, without harming anyone or the countrys interest anyway. Now, at this age of ‘hard nut to crack’ competition, where the number of scopes have been declining significantly,such complicacy,has been erupting as a fetal disease like ‘pandemic’ here and there even now and then. It is indeed, a threatening to our ‘democracy’. It is undesireable as well as offensive. We,the citizen of India all, should never indulge in such practice of discrimination, by creating an awkward situation before the country , where an Indian is under-measured in the wrong manner.We should never forgot one great thing, that an Indian could easily be recogonised in the abroad by the foreigners all, rather than presenting there to be a Bengali,Maharastrain or with any other regional recogonition. It is true, that an Indian citizen could share this honour and pride as well in the abroad country by representing him/herself as an Indian rather than a Bengali or Maharastrain or any other.

We would require to be very careful and restrained as well in this regard. Political leaders all, should discard such negative way, as to provoke as well as to seduce his/her followers in all respects allegedly. With such wrong vision and negative attitudes,no any politics could successfully be established firmly in any democratic country.It could last for a few days only as ‘eyewashing’ or as ‘illusion’ like, to the followers many. Is it the proper way? Never could it be! Such parochial politics with negative vision and mission,can never bringany good for India as a whole. It is to be looked and judged by us all very keenly with greater patience and care. Such vindictive drive of reckless politicians that inspire a greater damage to the national integration as well as democracy. Serious attention and competently handling is required innediately from the ‘Apex Body’ or ‘Higher Authority’ of respective parochial politicians, who are engaged in such misdeeds of igniting fire nationwide.

Legal action should be taken on those reckless politicians and their followers without any raising question anyway.In strong hand, such antinational activity should be handled as to a avoid greater turmoils and anarchism in near future. Judiciary system as well as the administration should be allowed to work independently.No political intereference,should be entertained in any way, so that the process of administrative measures on such anarchists, could be inflicted or interrupted anyhow. Otherwise, the most valuable part of our democracy as well as national integrity would definitely be affected and contaminated severely..

. Inspector MC Sharma who led the Delhi encounter today (Sep 19) succumbs to injuries, a senior police official said. Sharma was a highly decorated officer of Delhi Police. Terrorists had fired at Inspector Sharma during the encounter.Winner of seven gallantry medals, Delhi Police Special Cell officer Mohan Chand Sharma was critically injured today during the encounter with Indian Mujahideen militants in Delhi. He died after battling for life for nearly eight hours.Sharma (41), who led today's daring encounter at Jamia Nagar where five terrorists linked with the recent serial blasts in the country were holed up, had received three bullet injuries on his abdomen, thighs and right arm. Previously.we had the perception of ‘safe life’, was to achieve more wealth as far as possible. Our endeavours were delimited by the emphatic tends towards to be ‘richness’. But looking at the climatic changes and suurounding environmental disorders,our rethinkings have started in new mode. We do need to think the vital factors of climatic disorder rather than achieving wealth.

The greenhouse gases (GHG) are increasing day by day, creating severe problem to the environment by contaminating the air basically. Air is significantly contaminated today, due to massive industrialization, incontrollable transportations and forestry uses for domestic purpose and so on.The lavel of carbon-di-oxide is on ascending order.which could be very harmful to our health.It might happen so, that we were facing ‘breathing trouble’ due to the existence of higher percentage of carbon-di-oxide (co2) in the air. Now, we have to think of fighting with such fatal co2 to keep the atmosphere at least at good condition. Our atmosphere should be kept at usable lavel for the future. Otherwise our survival would be threatened very badly.

Yes, we do need the safe life for us unquestionably. We have to be more aware of the preservation of nature and animal planet as well. More and more plantation will be required in this hard task of protecting the nature. We have to plant individually as fer as possible and necessary care should be taken on these plantations for its growth extensively. Contaminaton of water should be handled very strictly. The day will come, when drinking water could not be provided to a large number of population. Deforestation is needed to check severely. More forest will accommodate more lives. Forest can save humans as well as the animal planet satisfactorily.

Our ‘safe life’ is indispensably depending uponthe protection and nurturing of the nature perfectly.It could be done by protecting all natural sources gifted by the nature and taking care of thos living planet seriously and sincerely.

The use of children as soldiers has been universally condemned as abhorrent and unacceptable. Yet over the last ten years hundreds of thousands of children have fought and died in conflicts around the world.
Children involved in armed conflict are frequently killed or injured during combat or while carrying out other tasks. They are forced to engage in hazardous activities such as laying mines or explosives, as well as using weapons. Child soldiers are usually forced to live under harsh conditions with insufficient food and little or no access to healthcare. They are almost always treated brutally, subjected to beatings and humiliating treatment. Punishments for mistakes or desertion are often very severe. Girl soldiers are particularly at risk of rape, sexual harassment and abuse as well as being involved in combat and other tasks
. Children are forcibly recruited into armed groups in many conflicts but the vast majority of child soldiers are adolescents between the age of 14 and 18 who "volunteer" to join up. However, research has shown that a number of factors may be involved in making the decision to actually join an armed conflict and in reality many such adolescents see few alternatives to enlisting. War itself is a major determinant. Economic, social, community and family structures are frequently ravaged by armed conflict and joining the ranks of the fighters is often the only means of survival. Many youths have reported that desire to avenge the killing of relatives or other violence arising from war is an important motive.
Poverty and lack of access to educational or work opportunities are additional factors - with joining up often holding out either the promise or the reality of an income or a means of getting one. Coupled with this may be a desire for power, status or social recognition. Family and peer pressure to join up for ideological or political reasons or to honour family tradition may also be motivating factors. Girl soldiers have reported joining up to escape domestic servitude or enforced marriage or get away from domestic violence, exploitation and abuse.
The problem is most critical in Africa, where children as young as nine have been involved in armed conflicts. Children are also used as soldiers in various Asian countries and in parts of Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.
The majority of the world's child soldiers are involved in a variety of armed political groups. These include government-backed paramilitary groups, militias and self-defence units operating in many conflict zones. Others include armed groups opposed to central government rule, groups composed of ethnic religious and other minorities and clan-based or factional groups fighting governments and each other to defend territory and resources.
Most child soldiers are aged between 14 and 18, While many enlist "voluntarily" research shows that such adolescents see few alternatives to involvement in armed conflict. Some enlist as a means of survival in war-torn regions after family, social and economic structures collapse or after seeing family members tortured or killed by government forces or armed groups. Others join up because of poverty and lack of work or educational opportunities. Many girls have reported enlisting to escape domestic servitude, violence and sexual abuse.
Forcible abductions, sometimes of large numbers of children, continue to occur in some countries. Children as young as nine have been abducted and used in combat.
Demobilization, disarmament and reintegration (DDR) programs specifically aimed at child soldiers have been established in many countries, both during and after armed conflict and have assisted former child soldiers to acquire new skills and return to their communities. However, the programs lack funds and adequate resources. Sustained long-term investment is needed if they are to be effective.
Despite growing recognition of girls' involvement in armed conflict, girls are often deliberately or inadvertently excluded from DDR programs. Girl soldiers are frequently subjected to rape and other forms of sexual violence as well as being involved in combat and other roles. In some cases they are stigmatized by their home communities when they return. DDR programs should be sensitively constructed and designed to respond to the needs of girl soldiers.
The UN Security council has issued a series of resolutions condemning the use of child soldiers and proposing measures to stop child recruitment. These include dialogue with parties to armed conflict aimed at the immediate demobilization of children; and targeted measures to sanction those who continue to recruit and use them as soldiers. Such measures could include the suspension of military aid or assistance, weapons or travel bans of asset freezing.
The UN General Assembly, the UN Commission on Human Rights, the African Union (formerly the Organization for African Unity), the European Union, the Organization of American States and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe have all condemned the recruitment and use of child soldiers.

This condition is more rare thanbackground retinopathy and is more often found in people who havebeen insulin dependent for many years. The new blood vessels willrarely affect your vision, but their consequences, such as bleedingor retinal detachment can cause your vision to get worse suddenly.Your eyesight may become blurred and patchy as the bleedingobscures part of your vision. Without treatment, total loss ofvision can happen in proliferative retinopathy.Although your vision may be good, changes can be taking place toyour retina that needs treatment. We have gone far, by paying more attention emphatically on the industrial growth and technological advancement, just overlooking the vital matter of preserving the ‘environment’.
Environment generally ,is affected by industrial dust,fume, fosil of fuels that particularly emit carbon-di-oxide,carbon monoxide,sulphar-di-oxide like fatal gases. Those emitted gases are the well performer of bringing so many fatal diseases to the human life.More industry in the congested manner could be caused of such greater emission of fatal gases.We are living in danger! Present condition of the environment is threatening us severely. Environment covers a larger area of air, water,soil and others. Scarecity of drinking water is in increasing order day by day, and is generated from the mixing of industrial wasts in the natural sources of water and soil. Industrial wasts are really headache to the industry entrepreneurs. Without caring the gifts of nature properly, we are compelled to face the reaction and responses from the nature aggressively.The contaminated nature has been taking revenge to us.
At this crucial stage of environment, we have to take unending measures to safeguard it for the sake of human life. Neither they could have enjoyed in flying kites with their friends nor they collectively have commited any misdeed in their childhood. They possibly can’t remember of their childish done. Poverty did not permit them to happen so classic! The agony of appetite have chased for all time them.The little fellows could not be provided a squaire meal in a day by their parents. Their parents are all undone ! Appetite does not obey any barrier. So, in quest of food, all those ‘little flowers were compelled to get involved in doing anykinds of jobs, just to meet their basic needs only.

The opportunists businessmen very often are exploiting these innocent chidren by not giving proper payments to them.Even in need,the chidren are commanded to continue their works without any rest or refreshment at all. The employers do not consider these soft heartened kids are flesh blooded.Oftenly they forget those children have some tearing limit of patience.Whatever the employers do with those little fellows,is ruthless ! As these poor children have no alternative to satisfy their appetite,they silently obey and carry out all the commands of their “God Of Food”who are their saviour.

The objective of engaging child labours in any business concern, is mainly emphasized on minimizing labour cost by depriving them from getting the actual payment for their works. The valuation of their services rendered isnot perfectly evaluated. No overtime payments,no bonus nor any facilities,nothing is rewarded to them to satisfy anyhow. Ceaseless works and more works are necessary to the employers! The employers usually practice this theory of opportunism in the world particularly in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Really an untolerable phenomenon happens even now in so civilized society.

Have we no responsibility to save those hapless chidren? The demand for fuelwood has grown with rural populations, leading to the loss of trees and forests. To decrease reliance on fuelwood, the government has promoted the use of biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide produced by decomposing organic matter) for cooking fuel.Expanding agrarian population has also affected wildlife. Farmers and herders have encroached on national park and other wildlife sanctuary land, and the spread of cultivation has limited the range of animals such as tigers and elephants outside of parks as well. Poaching is also a problem. Up to 10 percent of India’s plant species are critically endangered, mainly because of the population-related pressures of deforestation and agriculture. Wetlands cover about 18 percent of the land, but most of them are under rice-paddy cultivation. To help combat these problems, the Indian government has enacted strong laws for forest conservation, wetland preservation, and wildlife protection. The Ministry of Environment and Forests was established in 1985. India has a severe air pollution problem generated by industrial effluents and vehicle emissions. Water-treatment facilities have not kept pace with the increase in urban populations, and pollution of rivers and groundwater is a significant and worsening problem. Another major problem is toxic waste, generated by industry and deposited in rivers and oceans and on low-lying land within factory boundaries. The large number of small industrial workshops makes it difficult to enforce laws against industrial waste pollution.
